Summary

Starting point / motivation

In recent years the realization of passive and very low energy houses has been pushed by political targets on federal level and on federal state level. A wide variety of know-how has been collected during the planning, construction and operation of these pioneer buildings.

The experiences, especially those in collaboration with the bmvit-programme "Building of tomor-row", are very well documented, however there are remarkably diverging attitudes to different tasks - like extra costs for the planning and constructing or additional charges for maintenance and repair - from the building developers, real estate agencies and even planning offices regarding the possibilities and limits for the construction of large volume residential and non residential buildings in lowest energy and passive house standard.

The exchange of experiences in planning, constructing and operation of highly energy efficient buildings happens only sporadically and does not satisfy the demand for verified knowledge and structured exchange of experiences of the building developers.

Contents and goals

The "Passive house for the future academy" offers this exchange of experiences by creating a moderated and guided exchange of experience between the know-how holders. Pioneers and newcomers are trained in intensive workshops and gat the chance to turn into professional passiv house planers, while learning from each other's experiences.

Up to now more than 20 renowned building developers (BIG, GESIBA, ÖSW, BUWOG, ARWAG, GSWB, Kallco, VOGEWOSI, Heimat Österreich, a:h, GSW, federal state of Lower Austria and may more) have obligated themselves via a declaration of support to the participation of the project, if it will be approved. This shows the need for the present project.

Methods of treatment

There will be three similarly structured workshops within the target group, one located in Austrias eastern region, covering Wien, Niederösterreich, Burgenland, Kärnten, one in Austrias central region, covering Oberösterreich, Salzburg, Steiermark and one in Austrias western region, covering Tirol and Vorarlberg. The characteristic of the "passive house of the future academy" is, that the participants do not only receive knowledge, but also contribute experiences - in that way the benefit for all participants is guaranteed. The conditions for participation is to contribute knowledge and experience from own lowest energy and passive house projects. The personal, non-public framework of the workshops promotes an open discussion.

Expected results / conclusions

The results of the Austria wide workshops are documented and published in a final report as well as in specific "technical bulletins" for planners, marketing and facility management. Beyond that the generated know-how will be furthermore exploited by the project partners, e.g. in courses and lessons of universities and other advanced training institutions.
