baubookPlus - Expansion of an extensive knowledge database of sustainable buildings
The online-platform baubook supports participants in their goal to realise sustainable buildings. This platform will be incorporated by LCA reference data for building services as well as by-product declaration and quality criteria for biomass boilers. In addition to that both the product declaration by producers and the quality assurance by supervisors will be simplified.

Außerdem wird sowohl die Produktdeklaration für Hersteller als auch die Qualitätssicherung für BetreuerInnen stark vereinfacht.

Summary
Starting point / motivation
The foundation of the baubook GmbH in autumn 2008 gives the prospect of a unification of the two most important Austrian databases for building products "öbox" and "ixbau.at". A "single" database for product declaration, demanded by funding agencies and building material producers comes into sight, which feeds also all relevant calculation programmes (Energy Performance Certificate, building physics, building material ecology) with quality-assured data sets. Such data sets are a basic requirement for life cycle analyses of buildings, with special importance for Plus-Energy Buildings.
Contents and methods of treatment
With this project, baubookPlus, functionalities of the new (united) database baubook should be extended and data should be added as follows:
- LCA reference data for building services
LCA reference data will be extended to include data for building services. The extended data set will be available on a cost-free basis for developers of software for building physics and for the calculation of Energy Performance Certificates. A workshop for software developers will be provided. An evaluation tool (Ecosoft) will be made available to participants.
- Centralised product declaration: Implementing an online procuct declaration assistant.
The central product group and attributes tree will be incorporated into the new baubook database structure, and a central online product declaration assistant will be implemented. Products that have been declarated within the former databases öbox and ixbau.at will be transferred to the new structure.
- Decentralising application assistance and qualitiy assurance
To ensure easy access to the new system for all relevant Austrian actors in the field, web-based application assistance and quality assurance will be improved. Authorisation and user systems will be further developed in view of a product-specific decentralised application assistance.
- Product declaration and quality criteria for biomass boilers
The range of products in baubook will be extended to include data for biomass boilers. In co-operation with partner Energie Tirol criteria, parameters and necessary procuct attributes (including mandatory certificates) will be defined and integrated into baubook. The data are especially useful and available for the housing subsidy schemes of the Länder (e.g. Vorarlberg, Salzburg, Tirol).
Expected results / conclusions
Result of the project is a database for product declaration, which serves all relevant calculation programmes (Energy Performance Certificate, building physics and building ecology) with quality assured data. These data are the basis for life cycle analysis of buildings and especially of plus-energy buildings.
