SWT - Small wind turbines for households and companies
In a practical way the project should show that with optimised small wind turbines a useful potential of wind power can also be generated at different suitable locations with low wind conditions directly at households and companies.

KWKA - Kleinwindkraftanlagen für Einfamilienhäuser und Kleinbetriebe
Projektziel ist es, das Energiepotential mit möglichst für schwache Windverhältnisse optimierten Kleinwindkraftanlagen an unterschiedlich gut geeigneten Standorten für Einfamilienhäuser und Kleinbetriebe im praktischen Feldversuch zu erheben.

Starting point / motivation
Most of the small wind turbines on the market work at normal or high wind conditions. But at low-ride mast of small wind turbines the wind speed is low and most of the common wind turbines do not operate. That is the reason why many owners of small wind turbines are not happy or really
disappointed about the low energy yield. So we see, that an imperative improvement has to be done in the near future to let small wind turbines work also at low-ride masts and at locations with low graded wind conditions.

Contents, goals and Methods of treatment
In the following goals of the project the past experience of vertical and horizontal axis, wind turbines should be analysed for a further development of small wind turbines, including production and bringing onto the market.
goal-1: Analysis of the small wind turbines which the applicant has constructed in the past at a typical location at a household with no optimal wind conditions and the development of an optimal-small-wind-turbine-concept for low wind speed between 2 and 6m/s.
goal-2: Installation of at least three small wind turbines which were developed at goal-1 in three locations with different graded wind conditions - a location at a typical dwelling zone, a location in the free lowland and a wind exposed location on a hill at a barnyard.
goal-3: Analysis of the operation of the small wind turbines from goal-2 during a test time of one season.
goal-4: With the experiences from goals 1 to 3 a prototype for a future series production should be developed.

Expected results / conclusions
In the future a company for series production of small wind turbines should be founded, where the energy supply is provided by a small hydro power plant which is in planning phase - process of getting a building licence from the lower government started in December 2008 - at a near river.
